DNS propagation

Query the same record against several public resolvers at once and see if any of them disagree.

This measures what these resolvers have cached right now, not real-world propagation — there's no way to see your own ISP's resolver.

What is DNS propagation and how long does it take?

When you modify domain records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT), worldwide DNS resolvers need time to refresh their cache based on the record Time To Live (TTL).

Our tool queries global recursive resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, OpenDNS) across different regions to verify global synchronization.

DNS Propagation FAQs

Why do some users see the old server while others see the new one?

Different ISPs cache DNS queries independently. Until the original TTL expires, many clients continue resolving the old IP.

How can I speed up propagation before migrating?

Lower your record TTL to 300 seconds (5 minutes) about 24-48 hours before performing server or DNS changes.

What about the rest of your domain?

DNS propagation is just one piece. Certificate, headers, email, ports: check it all for free in a minute.
